Blackwood BestFarms Group

The Blackwood Basin Group developed the BestFarms EMS project in 2002 to help landholders identify and manage environmental impacts on their properties, such as salinity, water quality and soil improvement.

The development of a BestFarms Environmental Farm Action Plan involves identifying environmental impacts on your property and developing on-ground actions that will address these impacts over time.

Participants learn how to set achievable environmental targets, how to undertake on-ground works effectively and how to monitor their progress over time. Monitoring workshops are held to give farmers a hands on look at some easy to do, monitoring activities that can be done on-farm.

BestFarms Environmental Management Systems (EMS), is a flagship project of the Blackwood Basin Group. In 2007 it was recognised with the Australian Business Award for Environmental Responsibility in its industry category. The Awards showcase organisations that demonstrate the core values of business excellence, corporate responsibility and commercial success in their respective industries.

The BestFarms Project has already conducted numerous workshops for over one hundred and twenty participants; helping to change land management practices and protect the environment across the South West of WA.

Each BestFarms EMS workshop shows participants how to identify the environmental impacts on their property and to develop, implement and monitor an action plan which will provide a systematic and sustainable approach to profitable environmental practices.

BestFarms Corporate Partnership Program

The BestFarms Corporate Partnership Program (BFCPP) developed due to the expansion of BestFarms EMS and the increasing demand for its system services. The BFCPP is about establishing longterm, mutually beneficial partnerships with business. Partners that come on board the BFCPP are contributing to a great product, the BestFarms EMS program. They are able to promote their commitment and dedication to Best Practice in Natural Resource Management, showcase their services and products to a broad audience and be part of the dynamic, innovative program that is BestFarms. BestFarms is excited to be launching the BFCPP at the Welcome BBQ of the 2009 EMS Conference.

The program is being launched at the BBQ Dinner on Tuesday evening.
